- 3.0 inch LCD
- Improved Zoom Framing Assist Button
- 16.0 Megapixel Image Sensor
- Canon DIGIC 4 Processor
- 720p HD Video w/stereo sound
These are all fine features that combine to make one amazing camera, but what does this mean for you? Please note the advantages and disadvantages of this camera as described below.
Advantages
- 30x Optical Zoom and 24mm Wide Angle Lens w/ Optical Image Stabilizer—This will give you the ability to zoom in on your target from a range of 24mm to 720mm, which means that your targets can be of things that are a great distance away. In addition, capture detailed telephoto pictures such as beautiful landscapes, far away horizons and distance shots that were always illusive to you in the past.
- 3.0 inch LCD- You will have a screen that has a higher resolution, which means that you won’t have any problems viewing, editing or showing off your pictures on a much larger picture screen.
- Improved Zoom Framing Assist Button-The Canon PowerShot SX500 has a great telephoto lens, but this makes it difficult to use at the maximum capacity. However, when the Framing Assist Button is pushed this will allow you to get a wider angle of whatever moving object you are trying to capture.
- 16.0 Megapixel Image Sensor- This sensor produces high quality pictures that are extremely detailed and colorful.
Disadvantages
- Canon DIGIC 4 Processor- Although this processor is a very good one and does a fantastic job, it is considered to be a disadvantage put in the disadvantages because it is one generation behind the latest technology. Canon has other cameras that have a DIGIC 5 Processor. So, this camera is one generation behind when it comes to its processor.
- 720p HD Video w/stereo sound- Not only can you use the SX500 to take stunning pictures, but with the push of a button you can create wonderful videos that you can watch at a later time. However, unlike some of Canon’s other cameras that have 1080p capability, the PowerShot SX500 only has 720p.
As you can see, the Canon PowerShot SX500 is a powerful little camera with tons of added features. There are a few features that are not the latest features that Canon has to offer, but this may have been done to keep the cost of the camera more affordable. But the bottom line is that the Canon PowerShot SX500 has far more advantages than disadvantages, which makes it a very good investment.
